I have over 20 years in the field of mental health. I hold both a Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology from San Francisco State University, and a Masters of Social Work degree from Hunter College in New York. I completed a 3-year training program at the Psychotherapy Institute in Berkeley, as well as a year-long psychotherapy training program accredited by the Royal Academy of Arts at Spectrum Therapy Institute in London.
I have been in the field of trauma intervention since 1994, working with survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, and later with individuals affected by cancer. I have provided direct care to clients, as well as improved institutional policies and trained professionals to better respond to people in crisis. I speak Spanish and work with bilingual clients.
Specializing in parenting since 2006, I trained in child-parent psychotherapy at the UCSF Infant-Parent Program, and was Director of Parenting Education at Family Centered Services of Connecticut, a program that serves families involved with Child Protective Services and struggling with such issues as poverty, mental illness, violence and addiction. I currently serve on the board of The Psychotherapy Institute.
